Melvin is a throwback martial artist.  He excels in everything not just a division or two.  He world rated in Traditional Forms, Traditional Weapons, Sparring, and Extreme Forms and Weapons!

Melvin started in Taekwondo when he was 6 years old at Sunrise Taekwondo in Maricopa, AZ. At the age of 8 he really started focusing on a goal to be one of the best in the world.  For the past two years he has trained with Mr. Scott Benton, 4th Degree Black Belt and World Champion at Senior Master Michelle Landgren-Lee’s Academy in Tempe, AZ.

Melvin has been consistently in the Top 10 over the past several years in multiple events. Last year he received his First time World Title Champion in Traditional Weapons ( Bo staff). In the process, he has earned hundreds of medals, trophies and ribbons.

Melvin loves to travel, compete, teach and meet new friends all over the country. He has taught Extreme Bo Staff Seminars along his many travels.

Melvin is one of a kind, not only a great martial artist but also a honor roll student since first grade. He also loves other sports like soccer and wrestling. His hobbies are to playing “kendama” and watching his favorite “anime” flicks.
