Jonathan R. Blanco
3x State Champion, 2x District Champion
Jonathan is a 9 year old recommended black belt out of Miami, Florida. He began training in the style of Tae Kwon Do at age 6. He will be testing for his 1st degree black belt within the next year.
During his first year of competition, Jonathan won the State and District Championships. After a string of disappointing losses well into the middle of his 2nd competition season, J – as he’s affectionately called by his teammates – reached out to Mr. Trace Megellas. They began working together in February of 2014 and together, revolutionized his training regimen. He turned that season around and went on to win three more titles. He realized then that the only time you truly fail is when you stop trying.
Currently, he trains under Mr. Justin Escarra for traditional forms and point sparring and under Mr. Trace Megellas in his favorite category – weapons – where he specializes in the bo staff.
Jonathan competes throughout the country in ATA, TKO and NASKA circuits and holds three State Championships and two District Championships in extreme and creative weapons. Whether he has an upcoming tournament or not, he never lets up on his training, dedicating at least 20 to 30 hours a week mastering his technique. Don’t let his age and size fool you: J is dynamic, determined and disciplined. This powerhouse is always eager to move on to the next challenge.
In addition to his martial arts training, he practices freerunning, flipping and parkour at the Miami Freerunning Academy. Jonathan is an avid reader and honor roll student. When he’s not training, you can find him curled up with his puppy Kai, spending time on the water with his parents and little brother or with his nose in a book, reading up on Greek Mythology, his favorite subject.
Jonathan is excited about TForce Elite’s growing presence in Latin America and hopes to travel with the team holding seminars.
